The terms cellar and basement are often used interchangeably but both are areas below ground level that feature in many commercial buildings but can often be ill-used due to their temperature or lack of the right damp proofing. At Eradicure, we offer cellar conversions to help businesses make the most of their full space and utilise the underground area for practical means.
Creating a practical space
Cellars can be a very practical space with some adjustments and are very popular for storage due to their naturally cooler temperature. Many food and beverage businesses use them to store supplies that don’t require full refrigeration but benefit from a cooler temperature. But the spaces don’t have to be limited to simply being storage space and with the right work, can easily make useable areas that could be anything from a dining area to staff space or even extra office areas.
To begin with, we will conduct an assessment of the cellar to get an idea about the work required to convert it. This will involve looking for signs of problems such as wet or dry rot and rising damp. We will also check the damp proof course on the building as if this isn’t to standard, this is serious point of weakness. The damp and unpleasant smells often associated with cellars are usually due to this kind of problem and is something we can deal with.
Making the cellar what you need
Once we have conducted an assessment, we can then offer suggestions as to what the cellar space would serve as or if your plans for the space is workable. We can also help with planning permission and any regulations that apply to the work to ensure everything done is legal and to standard. Then we can get the work done in the shortest time to minimalize disruption for the rest of the business.
