Stratford upon Avon
Eradicure (Stratford upon Avon) Limited were called in to carry out sympathetic timber resin repair and replacement on the multi-million pound rejuvenation project at the RSC in Stratford upon Avon.
Bespoke timber replacement ends were manufactured in house by our experienced carpenters.
Repairs carried out in this manner minimise disruption and allow for the retention of sound sections of timber.
The first Shakespearean festival was organised in 1769, when an octagonal amphitheatre was erected in Bancroft Gardens.
In 1824, the Shakespeare Club was founded, and the first theatre to be specially built for a Shakespeare festival, was planned by members of this club in 1827, called the Theatre Royal, it stood in Chapel Lane for nearly fifty years, and was eventually pulled down, to allow New Place Garden to be restored.
The first Memorial Theatre was built beside the river Avon in 1879, sadly, this was burned down in 1926. The new Memorial Theatre, later renamed the Royal Shakespeare Theatre was opened in 1932.
Work on upgrading and renovating the Royal Shakespeare Theatre began in April 2007 and is due for completion in 2010.
